I did alot of research and finally narrowed it down to this mat because of the many rave reviews. This mat is truly great for birth and up because even newborns who can't reach for the toys yet will marvel at the light and music. The piece in the middle of the mat looks like a mobile but it isn't. It's not a huge deal though because it is probably dangerous having a moving contraption so close and directly above a baby anyway. Here are the pros and cons:
Pros:
- lights and music really engages the baby (my newborn stays put 20-30 minutes easy)
- the mat is made of good quality material & does fold (don't get those who say it won't fold)
- music is not too obnoxious, lasts awhile and has different modes
- good size, not too small or big
- cute and gender-neutral design
Cons:
- abit expensive
- mat could be thicker
