This item is not useful and I don't feel it is safe. I bought this item with the intention of having our new son sleep close to us. The item is not stable and turns to the side if you get close to it, waking the baby up and wrenching it to the side. Our bed is semi-soft mattress, maybe it wouldn't do that with a really firm one. Also, the tiny piece of mattress/foam that they have in there is ridiculous for a baby, its like having a baby sleep on cardboard.
