This is just a caution about sleep positioners that claim to reduce the risk of SIDS. Pillows, wedges, and positioning devices are not recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics or Consumer Reports. They have not been adequately tested to support their claim of reducing the risk of SIDS and may even increase the risk of suffocation. (the device itself can become a barrier to the baby's breathing) Babies are safest when placed on their backs in a crib with no soft bedding, pillows, or toys around.
