We used this co-sleeper for the first couple of months of our baby's life. Even though we were experienced co-sleepers with our older son, newborns are just so small, we didn't feel comfortable putting our tiny baby directly in our bed until he was a little bigger and more hardy. By the time he outgrew it (at about 2 months; he weighed 13 lbs and was 23 inches long) we felt that he was ready to sleep in our bed without it. It would have been nice to use it a little longer except for the fact that he outgrew it rather quickly and his legs started hanging out over the sides. Even so, for those first 2 gruelling months, having him near us through the night with nursing and changing made things much easier, so it was a worthwhile purchase. The light on top isn't very helpful because the beam faces upwards, so you can't really use it for diaper changes or things like that. The product is well made and is very portable--easy to take on trips. I'd definitely recommend it for anyone who is wanting to try out co-sleeping right away with their infant but isn't wanting to make the financial investment of the side-car style co-sleepers.
