We bought this when our baby was 1 1/2 weeks old when we realized she was not going to be going in her crib anytime soon. We only have a Queen bed, so it is a little crowded with her between us, but we still sleep alot sounder than we would if she was not in anything - it is better than taking any chances of rolling on her or her rolling over and suffocating. Baby is 3 months old now and she still uses this, but has almost grown out of it. We also use a receiving blanket on it as a sheet and can easily change it out. The light is perfect for nighttime feedings when you only want a bit of light. I don't know what we would do with out it. She also naps in it during the day and can be close by, on the couch. We have started carrying her in it and placing the whole thing in her crib after she falls asleep in hopes it will make the transition easier - working so far.
