I bought these last year for my toddler who was graduating from a crib to a twin bed. They are wonderful, and I've been impressed at how well they are made. I LOVE the ribbon trimming, and they are super cute. No problems here with roughness, but they are a bit "stiffer" but I take that to show they are of a higher quality sheet. I bought a generic "Thomas the train" set from walmart for my son at the same time, and in comparison those are really thin and are fading already.
